MAMA FESTIVAL 2017

La Boule Noire - Paris - MAMA FESTIVAL 2017

Delv!s Be//Pop

7.30-8.15 pm

Delv!s was born Niels Delvaux and got his nickname at school because of his floppy dark quiff. From a young age, Delv!s was drawn to old gospel and soul records, finding his voice reflected in the cracked, mournful beauty of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. While he fronted a rock band at school, his incredible range quickly outgrew their Nirvana and AC/DC covers and he studied jazz vocals in Antwerp for a year before gravitating towards Brussels’ exciting electronic scene.
Effortlessly mixing funk, disco, pop and old-school soul, Delv!s stays true to a classic, laid-back jazz attitude while getting you on your feet with his irresistible grooves.

Millionaire Be//Alternative Rock

9.00 – 9.45 pm

For many years, Vanhamel was the youngest guitarplayer in the edgy, ecclectic Belgian rockscene of the nineties; he was strongly noticed for his contributions in Evil Superstars and dEUS, before releasing ‘Outside The Simian Flock’, his first Millionaire album in 2001. Josh Homme, frontman of QOTSA, briefly teamed up with Vanhamel for the Eagles of Death Metal’s debut and also produced the second Millionaire record, ‘Paradisiac’ (2005). After that, Vanhamel made a record under his own name, ‘Welcome to the Blue House’ (2008), founded several bands and took part in others.
On may 19th, Millionaire released a new album, ‘Sciencing’, after a pause of 12 years.

He recorded in elstudio (Costa Rica) with Jeff Claeys as sound engineer. The album, produced by Vanhamel himself, was subsequently mixed by Greg Gordon (Oasis, Wolfmother) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The White Stripes) and Jerboa (bonus tracks).
